This concert is only for the participants in the seminar.
The concert presents arias and pieces from operas composed by women between the years of 1625 and 1909. These compositions were popular and lauded in their time, but have disappeared from the stage. Now we give these opera treasures a new life!
In the concert we hear among other things La Liberazione di Ruggiero by Caccini, the oldest preserved opera written by a woman. Mazeppa, which is based on Lord Byrons poem about the kosack Ivan Mazepa, and Viardots Le dernier sorcier, which was long assumed to be lost but was rediscoverd only a few years ago.
The concert is led by Mariangiola Martello and Anna Christensson, and among the singers are Annastina Malm, Leif Ahrun-Solén, Staffan Liljas and Norwegian Berit Norbakken. The concert is arranged by Den Andra Operan, Vadstena-Akademien, Confidencen and Åbo Akademi. Damkapellet plays.
